Designer Claudia Croteau and her artist brother, Guylain, both love concrete; they have just founded M3béton in Montreal, a company that specialises in kitchen countertops and fireplace mantels designed with a definite contemporary flair.
The Quebecers spent two years in Vancouver, working at Cast in Concrete Design. There, they were trained by founder Chris Stollery, himself a student of Fu-Tung Cheng, a California designer who specialises in creating concrete countertops and author of several books on the use of this material in the home.
Working with poured and cast concrete, the team at M3béton offers its clients a wide range of finishes and colours. Their designs, presently all custom-made, are being showcased in the New Product section of the 2008 National Home Show.
M3bétron will soon be introducing their first line of products in addition to their custom-made designs.
