Lumec, an outdoor lighting manufacturer located in Boisbriand, has been chosen to light up the site of the Vancouver Olympic Games.
Founded in 1972, the company designs, develops and manufactures outdoor light fixtures while keeping environmental factors in mind. It is committed to reducing the impact that artificial lighting has on the environment, mostly by controlling the light's energy efficiency and its trajectory.
The Leonis light fixture has recently been recognised for its energy-efficient properties as well as its esthetic features, since it uses a LED technology that consumes very little energy. Contrary to most outdoor fixtures that use HID technology, Leonis consumes up to 30% less energy. It also greatly reduces night-time light pollution by shining downwards and incurs much lower maintenance costs.
