Porcelain works, motifs, textures, embossing, whites and semi-whites; cold colours are all part of this exhibition by ceramist France Goneau.
Known as much for her architectural works introduced in various projects (Cirque du Soleil, Oratoire St Joseph) as for her more "artistic" creations that we see in galleries, France Goneau explores all the facets of a technique that she mastered many years ago.
Textures and finishes intrigue her even more than shapes, and her work almost always evolves from a ceramic tile into a wall ornament.
Her wall objects, as per her definition, are like scaffolds that open into a grid. In a system of repetition, accumulation and variation, the shapes rely on one another to create patterns using motif, rhythm, shadows and light.
