The Montreal All-Nighter

The fifth edition of the Montreal All-Nighter, which will take place Saturday, March 1st, as part of the Montreal Highlights Festival, offers night owls about a hundred cultural activities. Below is a selection of events that are sure to attract architecture and design fans.

- Illumination of the Quartier des spectacles 
The facade of the NFB's CinéRobothèque will become a giant screen on which film clips by VJs Les Passagers (Jean-Sébastien Baillat) and Les Crazy Tapis will be shown. La Vitrine Culturelle's marquee will become an interactive playground using lighting and sound by Moment Factory.

- Miracolo! H2O
At the UQAM Centre de design, during the H2O exhibition (100 posters created by Italian architects and designers under the theme of water and the planet's survival), there will be a tasting of Italian wines and cheeses.

Free, from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m.

- Lèche-Vitrine (Window-Shopping)
Playing with light and sound, students from the masters of visual arts program at the UQAM will, for one night, bring the windows of their Centre de diffusion et d'expérimentation to life. One Presentation after the other will heighten the viewer's sensitivity to urban spaces.

- Guided Tour of Old Montreal's Boutique Hotels
A 90-minute walk to discover the architecture and history of the Place d'Armes, Nelligan, St Sulpice and XIXe siècle hotels.
Departures at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. from the Palais des congrès information booth.
$15, reservations required.

- Sixteen Curious Architectures: Montreal's Architecture in 2108
An opportunity to discover, or rediscover, the prospective and futuristic installation presented by Galerie Monopoli till March 8th.

Free, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

- Playing with Fire
The Espace Verre training centre will offer visitors demonstrations of manipulated, drawn, cut, sculpted and fused glass.

Free, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

- Post-Vernissage at the CCA
In celebration of the "Utopia's Ghost" exhibition, which presents new interpretations and links between various architectural projects from the post-modern era, the CCA is offering several activities: an outdoor ice bar, music presentations by DJs, the launching of several books and a documentary screening.
