A life given to architecture

In honour of Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer's 100th birthday, Université de Montréal's Faculty of Landscape Architecture, Design and Urban Planning has organized a special showing of the film Oscar Niemeyer, un architecte engagé dans le siècle.

Directed by Belgian Marc-Henri Wajnberg in 2000, the film creates a portrait of the life and work of one or the most prolific architects of the 20th century.

An intimate portrait, the film features Niemeyer talking candidly about Brazil, of course, but also about France (his country of exile during the military dictatorship), the U.S. and the former U.S.S.R. He exposes a life dedicated to architecture in an era turned upside down by political and artistic movements.

A showcase of books on Niemeyer will also take place at the Faculty of Landscape Architecture, Design and Urban Planning's library until December 14.
